Item # 1029 - Mysterious "Lady with Borzoi" Figurine

Here she is again! She first appeared in the BIA 2004.

The next year's owner wanted to "spread the haunting"! It was time for her to move on to a new home in which she could command a starring role by day, and haunt the place by night!

She is beautifully detailed and will hopefully continue to appear in future BIA's as a sort of "travelling trophy". The Lady and Borzois is approximately 10" tall. She is made of resin in an off-white, antique color. Mary Ellen Berger, who bought her in 2005 testified that she definitely IS haunted. Mary said, "She sits on the shelf that holds my collection of IG magazines, and every now and again, usually after I've filed the latest issue, I find her turned off to the side. NOBODY but me puts anything on that shelf, and I'm not moving her."

Mary continued the tradition the next year by donating the "Lady" to the BIA 2006.

Loni Corner was high bidder in 2006 and also continuied the tradtion.

Loni says, "Since she bought it, the temperature was always different around the statue than the rest of the house".

The saga continues! Alita Watson won the "lady" last year.....she writes:"I would like to offer the Lady with Borzoi in keeping with BIA tradition. After all ....... it's only fair that another IG lover be granted her "mischief." She is truly haunted, and I have a witness!!!! I have seen her turn - Borzoi (rear end) East to West so many times I had to put her away!!! My daughter Casey, who lives close by can attest to the fact that I placed her (the Lady) on top of my Entertainment center when I left the house. She arrives at noon to let the dogs out into the back yard and noticed that the Lady had indeed made a turn to the West on a regular basis. I had made it a point to stop dusting so that we could somehow measure her movement. I know what you are thinking, and I can tell you it was EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to forego the dusting. Here in AZ we have red dust that permeates, and covers everything within two days if one is not dusting everyday. So, the Lady's progress has been measured thus: Movement (turning) at 7/8" of an inch for every 6 to 7 hours left alone. I did not have the intestinal fortitude to continue the 'study'."

Thank you, Alita for the return of the "Lady" <VBG>
