Item # 6006 - Antique Tobacco Trade Card Italian Greyhound

Here is an antique trade card from the early 1920s featuring the portrait of an Italian Greyhound. On the back is the following information: "Will's Cigarettes: Italian Greyhound; This old-fashioned dog is perhaps the most elegant and beautiful of all members of the canine tribe. Its supple movements, graceful attitudes, soft eyes, charming colouring, and extreme cleanliness make it a valuable drawing-room pet. It seems quite certain that this breed is a very ancient one, and was probably known to the ancient Romans and Greeks. In more recent days King Charles I and Queen Anne were very fond of these beautiful animals. In spite of their fragile appearance these dogs are by no means delicate in constitution, and sometimes live to extreme old age. The coat should be glossy and smooth like satin. All shades of fawn are recognised, golden fawn being most highly esteemed. / Issued by the Imperial Tobacco Company of Great Britain and Ireland, Limited". Measurement is: 2.5" x 3.25". These old trade cards are becoming increasingly rare. This card is in excellent condition.
