Item # 5019 - OLD Italian Greyhound Trade Card c 1915 England
Here is a very old trade card circa 1915 featuring the portrait of a gorgeous Italian Greyhound. On the back is the following information: DOGS 2ond series of 48; no. 29; Italian Greyhound; These miniature Greyhounds are among the most fragile of their kind. Some specimens weigh no more than 5 lb. when full grown, and their slender bones will break all too easily under rough treatment. The ideal Italian Greyhound is a perfect edition on a smaller scale of the English Greyhound, very slender, and of rapid, high-stepping gait. Self-coloured dogs will be preferred in the show ring, golden fawn being the most favoured. Issued by Gallaher Ltd. Virginia House, Londong & Belfast". This card measures 1.5"x 2.5". Donated by Bonnie Dennison....Thanks! Shipping for this item will be handled by Judy Longhouse. p.s.
I sure hope somebody buys this PRONTO. Gracie Longhouse (an
IG with a superiority complex like you wouldn't believe)
deeply resents several of the claims made above. She wants
to sue the entire Gallaher family for slander. Here are her
complaints: 1. Any IG weighing in the 5 pound range is anorexic
and less than lovely. IGs are most beautiful when "pleasingly
plump". (Grace has fought the battle of the bulge for
years and still resents skinny IGs <G>). 2. While golden
fawn is a nice color...according to Gracie...red fawn is
the ideal color. (you've got 3 guesses what color she is!)
and 3. The ideal Italian Greyhound is NOT a perfect edition
of those muscle-bound Inflated Iggies called Greyhounds.
IGs are much more aristocratic, delicate and refined. (yeah
right. You Know Who can be much less than refined when telling
off the world! She is also terminally lazy to the point where
her muscles are mush. If you ask me...she's just plain jealous!
Greyhounds are large and are allowed to eat more than The
Queen. She's just pea green with envy.) |
