Item # 1019 - OLD IG Wood & Glass Jewelry Box

Here is an old jewelry box from the late 1920s or early 1930s. On the lid is a portrait of two gorgeous 18th century ladies, a gentleman and in the foreground one delightful Italian Greyhound. The dog is beautifully detailed with a graceful curving tail and long tapering muzzle. This is not an apple headed IG! Over the portrait is a protective glass cover. Inside there are three compartments lined with glass. The box itself is made of wood. Around the perimeter are varying contrasting carved Victorian designs. Measurements are: 7.5" x 9.25" x 2.5" H. Two screws are missing on the "hinge" but could easily be replaced. As a result the lid lifts off rather than just gently opens. There are also some signs of surface wear on the wood. In general, however, this old box has survived the passage of time very well. It belongs in the home of someone who loves Italian Greyhounds!
